چکیده

Current biological theory has no commonly accepted view on the phenomenon of aging. On the one hand it is considered as an inescapable degradation immanent to complex biological systems and on the other hand as outcome of evolution. At the moment, there are three major complementary theories of evolutionary origin of senescence – the programmed death theory, the mutation accumulation theory, and the antagonistic pleiotropy theory. The later two are rather extensively studied theoretically and computationally then the former one is paid less attention. Here we present computer multi-agent model of aging evolution compatible with theories of programmed death and mutation accumulation. In our study we test how presence of aggression and kin-recognition affects evolution of age dependent suicide which is an analog of programmed death in the model.

Fine-scale kin recognition in the absence of social familiarity in the Siberian jay, a monogamous bird species.

Kin recognition is a critical element to kin cooperation, and in vertebrates, it is primarily based on associative learning. Recognition of socially unfamiliar kin occurs rarely, and it is reported only in vertebrate species where promiscuity prevents recognition of first-order relatives. However, it is unknown whether the recognition of socially unfamiliar kin can evolve in monogamous species....

Context-dependent kin discrimination in larvae of the marbled salamander, Ambystoma opacum

The context-dependent nature of kin discrimination was examined in larvae of the marbled salamander, Ambystoma opacum. In a graphical analysis, relationships between aggression and social and ecological factors were explored. Increasing relatedness between individuals was predicted to reduce aggressive encounters, except when correlates of fitness (e.g. body size) differed between individuals a...

Transient Nonlinear Vibration of Randomly Excited Cylindrical Shallow Panels in Non Aging Viscous Medium

In this paper, the nonlinear transient vibration of a cylindrical shallow panel under lateral white noise excitation is studied. The panel is in contact with a non aging viscoelastic medium. Since the external load is a time varying random wide band process, deterministic and conventional approaches cannot be used. Instead, the evolution of the probability density function of the response is in...

Cain and Abel reloaded? Kin recognition and male-male aggression in three-spined sticklebacks Gasterosteus aculeatus L.

The influence of relatedness on male-male aggression was tested in three-spined sticklebacks Gasterosteus aculeatus. The intensity of aggression against brothers and non-kin males did not differ significantly, indicating that kin recognition plays at most a minor role in aggressive interactions between male G. aculeatus.

Modifications of Internal Molecular Structures of Asphalt Components Due to Physical Aging

The internal structure of a molecule can be presented in terms of intra-molecular (i.e., inter atomic)and inter-molecular energies such as van der Waals, bond and bending, torsion, and inversion energy. In this study, changes in molecular energies of individual asphalt components are evaluated as afunction of physical aging factors. The factors for physical aging such as temperature and pressure...
